The basement and garage were completely full when we moved in... it was our task to dig through the piles and piles of stuff and get rid of what we didn't want and keep anything we wanted. What a task, but we came out like bandits. Years and years of collecting and borderline hoarding had accumulated into piles and piles, boxes within boxes. It was a Monday night.. while in the smallest room in the basement, we found a real treasure. The original blueprints and specs document of the house were crammed in a corner. They're very tattered, but still very legible. Being a designer, I got a little emotional. I know what it takes to create beautiful drawings like this - by hand. These plans are from 1897 and have helped us greatly through our renovation project. Fun things like the dumbwaiter and laundry shoot are fun to find. I was sure to scan them and plan to bring them into Autocad to create a fresh set of up to date drawings. I'd like to get the plans preserved and framed.. but there's plenty to do before I get to that.
I love a good elevation... below are the north and west views.
