The third 15’ dumpster arrived on Friday! What a simple item, but I can't put it into words just how incredibly satisfying it is to get rid of unwanted junk and purge! The highlight of our day will definitely be coming home to a driveway, free of a dumpster full of junk.
We demolished the kitchen floor(s) and soffit with the help of our incredible family. Three layers of kitchen floor and a soffit later, we are left with a giant kitchen. Who knew we had 10’ ceilings! Love it!
The following items were set on the curb with a free sign and were scooped up by a few unknown groups of people within a combined total of 45 minutes.
- Warped shelf - Our old back door - Three fluorescent lights from our kitchen
Hallelujah! Hopefully some of these items will be put to good use by someone!
Also, I’m in the doghouse. I clogged the kitchen sink/disposal drain BIG TIME with (too much) spinach. We literally had spinach flying out of our washing machine. It was that bad I guess. This resulted in me having to un-clog it. Gag! Needless to say, I learned my lesson. I was also told I was never to use the garbage disposal again. Opps.
I'm also attempting to refinish our first floor bathroom vanity. It was an awful cream marbled formica. I'm going for a more dramatic look by painting it with a black Rustoleum paint, specifically for counters. The first layer is done. I'm hoping for the best. I hope this is a much more cost-effective solution than the two-grand quote we got for a new counter to be fabricated and installed. The paint was $20 from Lowe's and goes on very easy after a little sanding, although it has a VERY strong smell. Ventilate well!
