French Toast Casserole

 
 

OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE

Ingredients
4 Tbsp butter
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
10 slices sourdough bread
10 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup milk
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup pecans, measured then chopped
Maple syrup & powdered sugar for topping

Instructions
1.
In a small bowl, combine melted butter and brown sugar. Spread mixture on the bottom of a 9x13” baking dish.
2. Arrange slices of bread in the baking dish, overlapping.
3. Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and salt in a bowl and pour evenly overbread slices.
4. Sprinkle chopped pecans over bread slices.
5. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator overnight.
6. In the morning, take the baking dish out of the refrigerator and let sit for at least 10minutes while you preheat oven to 350 degrees.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Sift a handful of powdered sugar over the top, and serve with maple syrup.
