A successful wayfinding system guides people through an environment and enhances understanding and experience. The new branding for Troy, Ohio provides a recognizable and welcoming system to do that.
The three building facades highlight the architectural and historical significance of the Public Square in the heart of Troy's Historic Downtown. The lighthouse and canoe icons pay homage to the lighthouse and riverfront activity at Treasure Island. The connecting element between both icons is the waterway, highlighting Troy as a city on the Riverfront Corridor.
The hero colors chosen (deep blue and red-orange) are period-correct colors from when some of Troy's mid-century buildings were designed. The icon colors also coordinate with some of Troy's downtown buildings and the large mural in the northwest quadrant. The font selection is a combination of traditional script and modern type, fusing together Troy's historic past and bright future.
